River Spring Ministries Performing Arts Lobby Concerts

December 16th and December 23rd

An Evening of Modern Hymns and Christmas Carols with David, Carolyn and Friends

No earthly castle was prepared for the birth of the King. The King of Kings was not delivered with the help of royal midwives. Mary did not bring forth her child lying on a feathered bed adorned with silken sheets. No, the Lamb of God was born as the virgin travailed in fodder in the oxen’s stall. When she was delivered tattered rags not a royal robe wrapped the Newborn King. He was not cradled in a hand carved crib but a feeding trough. Each day living in this beautiful place, I am humbled as I ponder how the Lord gave us stewardship of River Spring Lodge. At His birth there was no room for Him. Carolyn and I always make room for Jesus at this inn.

We hope you will join us this Christmas season for a celebration of two miraculous births, the birth of the Savior and the rebirth of every child born into the family of God. With a few of my musician friends, I will be singing some of my original Hymns from my next album. Then a special guest will lead us in a singalong of traditional Christmas carols in a celebration of the Savior’s birth. We would love to have you with us here for these very special evenings of Sacred music

Doors open at 6:00. The concert begins at 7:00.  Warm cider, eggnog, cookies, coffee and tea will be served before and after these concerts.  Please call Carolyn to reserve your seats 585.708.4212

Sunday March 22, 2020 West Coast Country Folk Singer-Songwriter Dan Weber

This incredible artist performed at River Spring last summer during our charity lawn concert series. As soon as he finished his set and put down his guitar I asked him when he could come back. He is not only a great entertainer but Carolyn and I enjoyed hanging out with him before he left. Trust me. You do not want to miss this show. Check out his promo video here

We look forward to welcoming him back!” – C. Wood

Dan’s performance was riveting. He is a master storyteller with a great sense of humor. His writing is precise, concise and poetic with influences of Robert Earl Keen and Guy Clark. We would have him back any time!” – C Bernhardt

I am so grateful that Jeff will be with us for another concert. He is a great songwriter, guitarist, an amazing looper and a really nice guy. He is the modern definition of a “One Man Band”. David

Friday April 24th 2020 The Amazing Southern Folk Rock Troubadour Rod Abernathy

Wow! Am I ever glad I found this man in our network of performing artists but more importantly that he agreed to come and put on a show for us here. My 71st birthday is April 26th but I will be celebrating it early as Rod plays!  David

“Rod Abernethy’s album The Man I’m Supposed To Be is a tour de force for this multi-talented singer/artist.” MAVERICK – The Leading Independent Country Music Magazine – July/August 2018

“Imagine what would happen if you musically crossed the iconic guitar chops of Leo Kottke and John Fahey with the prophetic and immensely appealing songs of Bob Dylan and Tom Waits. Rod fits that bill. While consistently putting his very unique artistry out there, one can hear distinct echoes of these truly significant artistic forces. To my ears, Rod joins that group in very rare air, all of whom have kept meaning in melodies and a kind of prescient skill in lyrics. If you have a chance to see and hear Rod Abernethy live, don’t miss it.” Bob Hinkle, owner/manager – The White Horse, Black Mountain NC
